Proceeds from the HEART T-shirt go to help children heal through art. Can you please describe a specific instance in which music helped you to get through a hard time?
There are too many to pick just one! From family members being sick, to normal teen angst growing up, to just being sick or in a bad mood. Music is what keeps me in check.
Today particularly, when music has been tied to tragedy, why is it so important to make sure for people to come together through music?
Music is just something everyone can relate to. No matter what culture they live in, or what language you speak, music is something that brings us all together.
What role do you think music plays in a child’s life?
It can help children get that extra boost in their education, can teach them about emotions and poetry, and can just teach them the basics of rhythm and even dance.
You devote your time and celebrity to Save the Children. What can everyone can do to help children in need on a regular basis (in addition to buying the t-shirt)?
Stay in the know. Follow Save the Children on social media and learn about all the great work they are doing in Mexico and all over the world.
Why did you want to support a campaign for children in Mexico, specifically?
I mean, if I could, I’d love to help out everywhere in need. Mexico fans are part of my core fan base. They have been with me from the beginning, along with others, and they are always so kind and caring, I just want to do whatever can be done to help.
