Check out the interview below in Spanish and English:
Spanish –
“He cantando en Turquía varias veces.
English –
Enrique Iglesias takes a look back at his over two decade career in the music business in the November issue of People en Español, in which very naturally addresses the downsides of fame and his experience with growing up in a famous family.
“I saw fame very closely. I saw the good things and the bad things of fame”, admits the 41-year old singer about his childhood and adolescence living in the shadow of his father, the legendary Julio Iglesias.
One of the most valuable lessons he has learned is to enjoy the moment. “I love Miami because I grew up here and my childhood friends are here,” says Iglesias, who explains that he sometimes shares his free time with his friend Pitbull, another star from South Florida.
“The ocean is very important to me. I don’t think I could live in a city that was not near the ocean or on the coast,” added the singer, who is often seen out boating with his girlfriend, tennis player Anna Kournikova.
According to Iglesias, traveling is in his DNA and it doesn’t bother him to go to far places. “I sing in Turkey several times. Turkey today is going through a very difficult time. There is a great deal of artists who have canceled tours they had for that part of the world. For us it is important to continue visiting these sites as long as we’re not put in real danger,” he highlighted.
“What I tell my band is there can be danger in our own homes. This is what we do. Traveling around the world and being able to go to a place like Turkey in a difficult time and to give a concert there is important to me. It is a country that right now we need to give attention to the positive and not the negative,” he added.
After his recent collaborations with Wisin (“Duele el Corazón”) and Nicki Jam (“El Perdón”), which have been hits, the singer is still in the studio working on a new album.
Is there plans for a duet with Julio Iglesias? What does he say about having children with his girlfriend? Read everything in the new issue of People en Español, which goes on sale this Friday!
